July 11th, 1955  Elvis Presley’s first number one record is recorded. The song is released Aug. 20th, 1955 and made debut on Billboard’s C&W Chart on Sept. 17th, 1955. Titled “I Forgot To Remember To Forget” it hit the top of the US Country charts on Feb.25th, 1956. It stayed there for 5 weeks, on Billboard’s “Most Played In Juke Boxes” C&W Chart. It was No. 1 for 2 weeks on Billboard’s  “Best Sellers In Stores” C&W Chart. Lastly, it made No. 4 on Billboard’s “Most Played by Jockeys” C&W Chart.

The record stayed on Billboard’s C&W Charts for 39 weeks. This predates “Heartbreak Hotel” as his Number 1 single. It finally falls off the chart June 2nd, 1956. Just two weeks later, June 16th, 1956, Roy Orbison’s “Ooby Dooby” makes it’s debut on  Billboard’s Top-100 Pop Chart.
